Suntory Yamazaki Distillers Reserve Japanese Single Malt

Description

A no age statement, entry level malt from drinks giant Suntory.  But pleasingly, all the malt comes from their flagship distillery, Yamazaki.

This malt is quite surprisingly, matured in a mix of sherry, Bordeaux wine casks and mizunara oak.

From Dramble, “Delicate with blossoms, incense and cedar wood. Red fruits, honey and cinnamon. Somewhat tannic, which no doubt derives from the wine casks. Medium, drying and favouring oak spicing and the aforementioned tannic quality.

A well-made and accessible whisky which ably demonstrates Yamazaki’s house style”.
