This malt celebrates the reality that many of us do not know: Most sherry oaked whiskies come from American oak casks, ie Quercus Alba. That is the way Oloroso sherry oak bound for Scottish distilleries is made, today.
So, I supposes is about time that the industry started celebrating this fact. And Tamdhu do it by the bucket loads.
Tamdhu is now own by Ian McLeod Distillers, owners of Glengoyne & the new Rosebank.
From Words of Whisky, “Mouth coating with a luscious richness, thick and fruity with soft oak, plum, gooseberry and chocolate limes. Long with the sherry notes lingering into a fruity finish with dates and syrup sponge”.
Official notes read, “Fruity palate, indulgent mouthfeel, soft oak, and unmistakable hints of sherry”.
