The Distillers Art Small Batch Ardbeg 20yo

Wow!  A private and named bottling of Ardbeg.  And look at it’s age!!

This spirit was laid down around the time Glenmorangie Plc released the first of the new Ardbeg 10’s. And typical with official Ardbeg, it’s been matured in ex Bourbon (American) oak.

My notes read, “Gentleness of age, gentle sweet fruitiness, grainy oak, hint of tarry smoke, integrated. Fab nose.  Malt on entry, falls of a tad then the smoke, dry and vegetal, arrives by the bucket load.  Creamy oak at finish, but smoke just hangs around. Supple, well combined.  What a treat”.

Official notes, “An explosion of peat and tobacco on the noses with a complex rich palate of smoky goodness. A long caramel peat finish that lingers on and on”.
