New Zealand is a great nation of whisky imbibers.  But tit has always amazed me that it took much longer than Australia to establish a home grown whisky distilling industry.

So, seeing this Tomoson range pop up, certainly caught me by surprise.

The distillery is based in Auckland and was founded in a brewery in 2014. They released their first malt in 2018.  The distillery is small, hands on and crafty oriented.

This South Island peated malt is essentially a work in progress as the distillery states, “It’s our Peated release in its youth. Notes on flavour – iodine, smoke, and sweet vanillins”.
