It’s like have a sip of liquefied ginger nut biscuits…
Tiny Bear Distillery Batch 3 Port Barrel Single Malt Whisky
I couldn’t believe my luck. An Aussie single malt that is really quite cheap. Which is quite surprising given that Tiny Bear, based in Knoxfield in Victoria, is so small. In fact truly tiny.
My notes, “The oak is just so subtle, amazing for an Aussie dram that’s used a French oak fortified cask. It’s sweet, with moderate length. And to me it’s like have a sip of liquefied ginger nut biscuits. Plus, I need to mention that the spirit is just so well integrated. It’s a sweet delight.”
Official notes read, “Mash Bill – 100% Australian malts. Mixture of Ale, Pilsner, Caramel, chocolate and Amber
Barrels – 2 barrels total (both 100L) – French Oak. Port, then whisky, then port and then whisky again (this one). Un charred barrels.
Distillation process – a bit different from all our future releases. This on is a combination of Pot and column blend. All future releases after this are double pot distillation.
Sweet notes of shortbread and honey on the nose followed by a tingle of pepper on the palate. A robust and warm whisky made for sharing”.
