Tobermory 23yo Oloroso Sherry Finish

Hailing from the Isle of Mull, this malt was distilled at Tobermory, one of the oldest established distilleries in Scotland, 1798.  And what is surprising, is that this dram was originally meant to be become the famed but now sadly discontinued, Tober 15yo.

The distillery states that it is fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks, no peat.  But they also state it is a “Sherry Finish”.  Can’t wait to try it it, to solve this stasty conundrum.

From a well known retailer, “Crunchie Bars, melted butter with a subtle salty tang to it, a hint of rum cake, sultana and fig. Soft vanilla tablet and milk chocolate”.

Official notes read, “Obvious sherry influence, salted toffee, vanilla fudge and spicy oak, with candied citrus and floral honey. Caramelized walnuts with a subtle salty undercurrent”.
