Tomatin Cu Bocan Creation 3 Moroccan Cabernet Sauvignon North American Rye

Cu Bocan Creations is Tomatin’s way of playing with various interesting and exotic oak casks. And being Cu Bocan, it’s mildly peated.

And for this new release in 2022, what a mix!  Moroccan cabernet (has anybody ever tried such a wine?), so I’m expecting a layer of red berry fruit flavours and oak spice courtesy of French oak matched with American oak that held rye whisky in it.  So a layer of crisp grassy flavours.

From the WhiskyChaps, “There’s a pleasant buttery mouthfeel. Nice warmth from both the alcohol and the imparted rye cask spices. The fruit notes are not far behind, grilled pineapple and raspberries now, slight ash along with a twang of blood orange bitterness…medium to long. Fresh cracked black pepper, blood orange and strawberries with cream…It’s an absolute cracker of a dram.  If I had to offer any critique it would be that I would like to try it at cask strength”.
