Tria Prima Bruxa Batch 1 Tawny Cask South Australia Single Malt
I’ve been following Paul Shand’s careful and measured distilling exploits now for a few years. His clear ideas about spirits and oak management just seemed so right. So, to see his first releases finally launched and to taste them was a very pleasing moment.
Hi careful and measured approach certainly has paid off. Gold and silver at two shows and for me it is not your standard cloyingly sweet Aussie port cask malt where the oak dominates the malt and spirit. This malt is both supple and subtle, with good balance and with a nice touch of intrigue.
In Shand’s words, “Full and silky with some nut-skins and fruit bitters, starts sweet then dries. Good tannins. It’s a robust, smooth and placid charmer and the nutty tannins do add a refreshing hint of bitterness to the finish.
Bruxa – The Temptress. Renowned for her ability to charm, she casts entrancing spells with every precious drop.”.
