Description

From a new Tennessee distillery, who while not quite into the full blown production, their recent releases were sourced from other distilleries, quite possibly from Cascade Hollow, are made in style Uncle Nearest is seeking.

Their entry level 1884 is a small batch release that is at least 51% corn along with rye and malted barley, the oak is new and it is bottled at 46.5%.  And the 1884 refers to the year that Mr Nathan “Uncle” Nearest retired.

From the WhiskyJug, “Warm and slightly oaky, it opens up with more corn notes and some caramel notes that merge into moments of a caramel corn-like profile. Compared to the toasted sesame seed notes I got in the previous release this is an improvement. If Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey is the direction they’re headed, count me in for the ride, it looks like it will be delicious”.

Official notes read, “Caramel balanced with spicy wood tannins. Notes of baking chocolate, cigar leaf, nougat and cinnamon.  Long and smooth. The cinnamon lingers with dark chocolate, oak tannins and maple syrup”.
