Sourdough, pineapple and smoke…
Whisky Cellar 2014 7yo Campbeltown Sherry Finish Blended Malt Whisky
And a spoonful of Sprinbank, makes the whisky go down, the whisky go down, the whisky go down…
Don’t quite know why that tune from Mary Poppins got into my head? But this delightful blended malt, I presume, combines two or maybe three distillery offerings from Campbeltown. Let’s see if we can work it out?
From MoreDramsLessDrama, “This is a very interesting dram. There’s quite a bit of funk on the nose and on the palate, and ever so slightly sulphury note, some earthiness and forestness (I create words if I want, it’s my blog), a whiff of smoke, this is a very nice whisky. Young and feisty but very good. Now, what could it be? As I said, there are only (unless I’m mistaken) three active distilleries in Campbeltown for now. Springbank, Glengyle (Kilkerran) and Glen Scotia. My guess would be that it’s an undisclosed Springbank (and others on the Tweet Tasting thought too). Now, your guess is as good as mine. Rating: 86/100”.
Official notes read, “Sea salt spray, waxy citrus peels, oak smoke, ginger spice and dry roasted nuts. Lingering and oily with a superb Campbeltown salinity”.
