Definitive grace and is a pure joy to drink…
WL Weller 12yo Wheated Bourbon
One of the superstar releases from Buffalo Trace, where the rye content of a standard mash bill is replaced by wheat. The other surprise of this spirit, is that it has been aged for 12 years. Extraordinary considering the storage conditions, hot and humid, in Kentucky.
From Braeking Bourbon revue, “A thick buttery viscosity is immediately striking. Within it holds a wealth of rich oak notes that border between young and old. This sweet spot works well to also highlight its warm caramel and thick vanilla notes without any individual part becoming overpowering. Excellently balanced, it presents its flavors on an even keel. This forthright delivery may not be overly dramatic, but it is striking in its harmony. Where it doesn’t wow you with layers of flavor, it offers its few flavors with definitive grace and is a pure joy to drink”.
While the official notes read, “Aromas of lanolin, almond, creamed corn and toasty vanilla. The mid-palate flavor is heavily wheated, layered and moderately sweet. Long, oaky, and intensely smooth finish”.
